Bad News: Brad Delp RIP

I know Boston's records sucked sonically, but the music was great for me. Brad Delp died Fri, at the age of 55, natural causes they say. He was a health food freak and treated people right. I hope he is in heaven. I never got to hear him on earth.

I had no idea I would be effected by this, but I am actually upset.I'm not a HUGE Boston fan, but I've listened to them consistently for 25 years now and always had respect for what Brad and Tom have done for rock music.

This is a sad day.

PS - I know they are bright and 'sparkley', but I wouldn't say they 'suck sonically'.

First album..man what memories.

Great singer, great band. Sonics BTW smoked everything at that time.

I hope his family and bandmates are holding up.

They used to die in threes, now it seems like the cliff broke off.

Brad was the best singer to ever walk the face of the earth. I can't believe
this.

I used to see him play in small clubs around the North Shore here with his beatles tribute band.
You could walk right up to him and say hello. He was so down to earth. Youd never know he sold 20 million records
by the way he acted. He had no ego and always had a smile on his face.

What a voice he had. So bluesy and soulful but yet so polished with his perfect pitch.
As far as Rock singers go, he is the pinnacle. You can't get any better than Brad.

Sorry, but Boston "sucked sonically?" Go to hell.fuuck

Boston did as much in the 70s to save rock n roll as any band I can think of.

RIP Brad Delp, indeed.

I heard a block of Boston on 95.5 in Los Angeles yesterday because it was Tom Scholz's 60th birthday. I was all amped up on Boston- and now Brad has passed?? WTF??

Mr. Delp was my favorite rock and roll singer, period.

That imaginary band in the heavens just got another great contributor, wow afraid to think who's next.

Much respect Brad.

The angels will surely sing

RIP Brad Delp.

Your music with Boston was a huge influence on me in my youth. It was an honor to see you and hear you live sir.

Rock on Brad.

How I love that first Boston album. Layers and layers of Brad Delp vocal harmonies. What a great singer that guy.

I said that based on a thread that was one here. More people said that Boston's sounds sucked than not. I should have put that in "".

Boston was one of the most inspiring bands ever to me and my friends, as we were tenors and first tenors looking for our place in this world.

Kansas was the next most inspiring because of their progressive style. It gave me hope as I was also studying violin and wanted to do more with it than play in an orchestra.

Smile

..

i can't believe it...i actually have a tear in my eye...

huge influence here.....and one of the few old school acts i still really enjoy hearing on the radio.

great voice....

man, i'm sad..

i guess pdc's referring to the fidelity of the records - but, imo,
they're some of the best sounding records ever recorded...musically and production-wise.
(i'm no high end mastering engineer, though).

we'll miss yuh, brad...SERIOUS voice....RIP.

I saw this on CNN.com last night and was absolutely floored. I still can't believe it.

What a great singer. He'll be truly missed.

Very sad. What a great voice.

"Sucked soncially"......maybe the more recent ones like 3rd Stage from from '87, but the orignal Boston and Don't Look Back are two of the best engineered albums ever. "Boston" consistently gets selected one of the best produced and engineered albums of all time. Go back and have another listen..........

Sad news indeed
I grew up on that first Boston record. It was one of those rare recordings that you could play strait through from start to finish. All great songs and amazing vocal performances. He'll be sorely missed!

A friend of mine said it well today: "I don't think I've ever changed the station when a Boston song was on." I think I agree, and there're very few bands for whom I could say that.

My pal went to the record store, looking for something like ELO's A New World Record.

So the guy there recommended this new record with a band called Boston. With colorful UFO's on the cover.

Not really like ELO. But we played it anyway, alongside Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and drank shoplifted beer. ELO remained the favourite. That Boston thing was alright, though. Seems like yesterday. Where did all the good times go?

I'm stunned.

I remember driving to work when "More than A Feeling" would be playing on the radio. Seems like 10 years ago--feeling very old right now.

I'm going to put on some of my Boston CDs tonight and give memory to one of the best singers of our time.

I think I'll put on some Queen CDs while I'm at it.

RIP Brad.

More sad news about Brad. Seems that the pressures of being a nice guy in show business were too much.

Family: Brad Delp's death was suicide

May he now rest in peace.

Oh man that's so sad.

How deeply upsetting... Let your loved ones know how you feel

I'll hear "A man I'll never be" in a completely different light.
