| A reverb/delay trick I from a long time use the trick to send the reverb delay from a not compressed copied track of my lead vocal, but yesterday i had an alredy compressed track so i decided to go for an expander right before the reverb on the reverb bus (same with delay). Wow, this was the same effect, a dramatic inprovement in the expression of the performance but even better... i think there is two reason for that, i used renaissance compressor (with the ratio pulled all way up in the blue area) with a 50ms attack so the "push" on the send was lowering the attack of the sound going to the reverb (it's the contrary with compression wich usualy makes the attack louder) and the second reason was i plugged on the delay send a second expander after the first one and tweaked the threshold to kick in on the loudiest parts. i imagine it has been used before so i'm interested if somebody can report back some refinements of this technique.

| Gear maniac | Will try. Have never found a use expanders. Nigel Godrich got some amazing reverbs/delay effects on Beck's Sea Change, maybe this is the ticket.. |
