Thread Starter | Suggestions in multiple interface setup...
Location: NYC Genre: Raw Folk/Rock Indie (Think White Stripes meet Violent Femmes) Computer: Intel Mac Pro Tower (Already Purchased) DAW: Logic 7.2 (Already Purchased) Budget: $10,000 I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this multiple interface setup. Obviously I would like to spend as little as possible while still attaining similar results. I'm wondering if you had any advice or areas to rethink in my situation. I am looking for a rig that has these variables: 1.High End independent 2 ch A/D conversion for overdubs/final mixdown 2.High End independent 2 ch D/A conversion 3.Good 8 ch A/D conversion 4.External Clock to run all gear seemlessly 5.Interface to Mac Pro (preferably firewire) My proposed setup: 1. Lavry Blue 2ch A/D (allows for further expansion as funds increase) 2. Lavry Black DA-10 D/A 3. Lynx Aurora 8 4. Apogee Big Ben (is there a better clock that you guys know about?) 5. Presonus Firestudio (allows connection of all gear with firewire and allows me to route independent monitor mixes to its 8 outputs. It also allows for 8 extra inputs in a bind although they aren't the best.) This solution comes out to be about: $7000 -Do you think this setup will be stable? -Can I cut any corners while getting the same level of quality? -Can the Lavry Blue Clock sync all this as well as the Big Ben? -Can it be reasonably better with the extra $3000? Thanks for your time. I hope this also helps out some other slutz out there. |
