Cheap, yet sturdy boom stands?

What are some good decently priced, yet decently made full sized boom stands? I want to stay away from the $20 On-Stage stands that fall apart after a few uses but I also can't spend $100's of dollars on one.

Thanks.

Well,
K&M stands used to work awsome, but damn it's hard to find them anymore.

On Stage makes some heavy duty models that are in the sub $100 range..Might be worth checking out.

i have some of the heavy duty on stage stands... They do what they're supposed to do, and are extremely sturdy, stable, and flexible... I couldn't record without mine.. I picked them up for $89 each on ebay a while back

YMMV, but if you treat those $20 On stage Stands reasonably well (don't beat them up, always loosen before you fold anything, etc) they will last for several years. I am going on 4 years with some of mine and I would still trust them with any of my mics.

If you're willing to drop 60 a piece, DR Pro's are really nice. Kind of an obscure company (no website or anything) but they are VERRY nice.

Yeah, I've worked with some really crappy mic stands, but the On Stage ones are fine in my book. Plenty sturdy. I've had most of mine for around 5 years, and they're just as sturdy as the day I got them. I have soft, girly hands, tho.

+1 for the DR Pros. Had mine for about 4 years. Very very sturdy and flexible.

I use these small stands all the time! Very sturdy (they have a nice heavy base). There are some other "kick drum" stands that are not near as nice/steady.

Funny, I started an identical thread a few days ago.

Several hours of research and pricing led me to this one:

K&M nickel for $95 delivered.

for a boom arm attachment only, the atlas be-e at about $20 feels nice. I just got one, but I've only had it about a week or so.

One person over at homerec uses one for a tom and cymbal stand and it hasn't failed him yet, if it can take a tom being whacked I think it can hold a 3 pound mic steady. I have a pair they work great, my heaviest mic is a shiny box ribbon and the stand ain't moving with it on there. Only minus is the boom doesn't have the extra extension like the KM listed above, which could come in handy for drum over heads.

The Tama mic stands are awesome for the price. You have to try them. MF has them and if you are dissatisfied, return 'em. (Sounds like I work there but I' don't. I'd buy them from Sweetwater if the carried them).
