Without further close scrutiny, the main advantage I see over 002 is that of wordclock inclusion.

Looks like more time was spent on aesthetic considerations than functionality.

Regards,

jhg

After all this time, they add word clock, high pass filters and a new enclosure? That's IT?? What a joke.

I think everyone is assuming that the converters are the same. If so, then I agree with everyone. If they are as good as say an RME Fireface or equivalent, then that changes everything. Why don't we wait to see the verdict on this?

One look at the spec page, and just the S/N ratios tell ya that the converters aren't up to the RME's, and even if they were, what about the clock? OMG, if you have a Post Summer '05 ff800 like I do, you've got A-K4396 converters...what Digi uses in their HD!, plus, you've got a practically jitter-free box...and you don't have to do plug-in latency compensation yourself...LOL.

This is pretty disappointing. Looks like a Mackie Control to me...

I'll still with my 002r and just get a Mackie Control and a clock for my ADAT preamp thank you very much.

Does this have to do with RoHS compliance or something? One of the only new things about the 003 besides the "look" is that picture of a trashcan with an line through it on the back.

This is a joke. I was worried I was going to have to sell my Digi002 and upgrade. Hahahaha! I'm sure they will release LE 7.4 and drop support of the 002. I'll have to buy a 003 to upgrade my OS to Mac OS 10.5. What a joke! Digidesign has jumped the shark!

Looks like it may be time to check out Logic, Nuendo or Cubase.

The 004 will be out in 2010 and will feature a 3rd headphone jack, external wallwart power supply to finally alleviate the power harness issue, and will be housed in a handsome marble veneer. $1295

Wow, I guess the 002 series is going to become vintage now. That 003 stuff looks gross ...and they put the IEC power connector on the wrong side.

Total waste... though it does seem that they finally included some type of discrete cue matrix which is kinda cool..

I think the only feature this thing has is the ability to kill the resale value on my old 002. Crap.

I like the jog wheel.

looks cheap and fragile though.

Oh hardware input led meters as well. and a monitor section.

I never expected the 003 to have HD features though.

When could the next HD upgrade be expected BTW? I hope that they will offer a more sensibled priced core card with MADI or adat with no plugin processing power.

why would digi make a quality 003 & 003r when they have to compete with the cheaper maudio gear that can also be used for ptools?
