Tube vibration

I will be tracking some upright bass this weekend, and will be trying the mic between the bridge legs trick with some SDC'S. My question is how bad would it be to use a small bodied tube mic? Would the vibration from the bass be very bad for the tube?
I am guessing this would be a bad idea, but I thought I would ask the slutz-

'Bad for the tube'? You mean would it damage it? I don't think it's an issue. Remember these mics have to be able to handle SPLs beyond what you're likely to expose them to, without the sound quality just falling apart, so I don't think there's much danger that the tube will fall apart!! I don't know, maybe the vibration would affect the recording, but you can always stick a little rubber damping ring around the centre of the tube to lessen the tube vibration (at least a little). That definitely makes a difference.

Somebody with more experience of what you're doing can probably confirm all this, but I think you'll probably survive this experiment. So many of the best tubes date back to the 50s, so obviously they're not all ridiculously fragile.

As long as the tube doesn't have any issues w/ microphonics then you'll be fine. Tubes have been used in military gear (including BOMBS). Plus, think about the tubes in an old SVT head! Talk about vibration!
Hopefully it's a good mic w/o rattles or structural issues...

You both make good points, Thanks slutz, I'll give it a shot this weekend.
