Multi pattern mic reccommendation

note: just FYI, I made this same post at PSW to get some exposure from different folks.

I'm looking for some advice on what mics I ought to give a try out next.

To make it short, what I'm looking for is a clean-ish multipattern condenser. I have a pair of KM86s. I have a pair of Schoeps. I'm looking for something "in between". More character and a little less detail than the Shoeps, but a little more clean and detailed than the 86s. Something well used in acoustic instrument micing situations, with good off axis response.

I'd like to try out the sony C48, and beyond that, I don't have much direction. Is the Gefell UM930 out yet? the M930 is one I really want to try out, and if there is a multipattern version that sounds close to it, I feel like that could be a good choice.

I've never heard either, but the impression I get about the DPA or Sennheiser mics is that they would be too much on the detailed/unflattering side of things for my tastes. Might that perception be accurate at all?

Also, I'd be interested to hear anyone chime in regarding Klaus Heyne's modifications, specifically on the KM86 (or 84 or 83). I've heard they are supposed to open the sound up, which could be just what I'm looking for.

Have you considered the Gefell UMT70?
I'm really happy with mine.

Also worth thnking about is the AT4050. Really useful multipattern mics. Cheap too...

Gefell UMT-70S. The transformerless one. Very nice mic.

I have a pair of UM70S mics, and based on their sound, I think that soundwise the UMT70S would fall farther away from the Schoeps than my KM86s do. Their off axis response is not particularly great, nor is the sound in figure 8 mode. Both of these aspects I would contribute to the sound of the capsule, which is common to the UM70S and its newer version.

I have considered the 4050. I think that regardless of what I get at this point, I will look for a used pair at some point. At their used prices, and with the good words they get, I feel like they would be very useful to me.
