| 60's female vocal sound hi maybe a stupid Q but here it goes. I'we been wondering how recordings like - shirley bassey - nancy sinatra and lateley Amy Winehouse etc. came to life .they all have some kind of simmular stroke to them (if you know what i mean) what makes the sound of this ? spring reverb? tape saturation?tube pre's? i would relley like to be able to obtain some of this vibe for my own bands singer! so if any on has an idea i would be very happy!! I'm recording/mixing ITB Macbook-Fireface 800-rnc-space echo-elberg-me-1nv-audio tecnica-senn 441/421- urs plugs-waves ssl-vintage warmer etc thank you Z |

| Gear addict | BUMP Im producing a female artist who has been asking me to reference AMY WINEHOUSE and ive been trying to get that sound too. Ive been multing the vocal and putting a guitar amp plugin on the mult and blending it in with the clean/crisp lead vox. I think this works nice, I rolled off the highs on the amp sim track and when the blend is right it adds a nice retro vibe....... But, im sure to get the real deal youll need U47-valve pre-valve com-valve EQ-tape...... Just a guess. Im also getting good results driving PSP VINTAGE WARMER hard and blending the mix really low. Im also gonna run her vox out to a speaker in the bathroom and mic it up and use it as an echo chamber. Some more ideas would be nice. thanks Chymer |
