this might be kind of a noob question but is there a box out there that lets you merge or select different MIDI devices?

i dont want to plug and unplug things in the back of the controller each time i want to use a different synth.

or should I just daisy chain it? i'm thinking i'll be using the remote with 5 or so different synths eventually.
WOW- this is the EXACT problem that I have...

I need something like this too... I have analog (SH101 and DR55) and midi stuff (K-station rack, AN200, Sy22) that need to play together...

any good and cheap suggestions???

^ can't say i have used any of them. i found a solution for the time being on my end without getting a patch-bay so the need for that has shifted to the back burner while i desperately, but not very successfully try and claw my way out of debt and stop buying music gear.

hahahahahahaha like that will ever happen! man i kill myself!

well, i had a few different midi controllers i needed to run into my comp rig, and i just got a midi to usb cable and routed the new controller to midi via usb.

i currently have my only midi ports to my computer soaked up by the logic control. but my presonus is hitting the road as soon as i am able and I'm getting two echo audiofire 12's expanding my midi another set of in's and out's.

so at the moment I'm good, but later i may need more. who knows. my focus currently is on getting the scratch for the audiofires, which i have done about twice but blew the money on some other audio thing each time.

like i said, I'm focusing on controlling myself at this time, and failing miserably.

Someone gave me a 360 systems midi patcher 4x8, but no power supply. Does anyone know what it uses (it says 9v on the back)?

Finally got one of those, and things power up nice (the button on output 8 seems shot, but I doubt I'll ever need that many).

I had been searching for a manual, but after playing with it, the thing is stupidly easy to use.

Hit Recall, press a button 1-8, it recalls that program.

Hit Edit, you're in edit mode. Repeatedly hitting an output button cycles through the input/output mappings indicated by an led (or none for the case of off).

Hit store, press a button 1-8, stores that program.

There might be other features that I haven't found, but that's about all I need.

I'm constantly amazed that with the popularity of vintage gear, there are so few options for MIDI patchbays.

For over a decade the Roland A880 has been one of the most useful pieces in my studio. It can do a lot of things but the layout of one button per In and Out is priceless if you need to patch 3-to-7 one day and 8-to-2 the next, etc. Plus the combination of 6 ports in back and 2 in front, love it.

Every once in a while I search around to see if something similar has been invented...... Note to self -- buy another A880 as a back up!
