The unit is called Mobiles I/O and it actually is a lot more then just a pre : it is a firewire interface with multilple digital and analog conversion possibilities.

I have the MIO 2882 (8 pres, 8 x AD/DA, firewire, bus-powered) and I love it. If you crank the gain of the pres all the way up there's a lot of hiss, so you need to use hot output mics. Users complained on the Metric Halo mailing list and so this new box the ULN2 is their answer to the problem. 2 channels of low-noise pres with inserts, front panel gain control (the 2882 is all digitally controlled, hence the noise) 2 channels of AD-DA over firewire, bus powered, etc. It would be the ideal unit for live stereo location recording with a laptop.
