best way to drumagog

i was wondering what some of you guys thought is the most solid way to use drumagog. do you think it is logical to use physical drum triggers on the drum heads?

If you just want to trigger samples, why not consider midi. An Alesis D4 or similar with a bunch of triggers (or $5 microphones) can generate midi data, which means you save a whole bunch of audio channels and tracks and disk space. Editing midi notes is easier than audio.

If you have the audio channels and tracks, why not at least attempt to record some real drums. Then, you can use drumagog just as a supplement.

But triggers look cool, and give a solid signal. You can always compress and eq the sound before it triggers drumagog.

Putting on a Ddrum trigger is so easy, you might as well do that as well as mic the drum. Then you can try both see which one is better. Drumagog has gotten so tight that the drum usually works fine, but if micing technique is poor, leakage can cause problems. I always track with triggers just in case.. can't hurt.
