| akai sample disc question - sampling rate I'm thinking about getting into sampling for home demos but I know nothing about midi - my MO is always setting up mics and recording acoustic instruments in a room. But I'm drooling over all the various sampled instruments available in Akai format CD-ROM. I recently learned of Kontakt - which supposedly can read Akai discs but I've never used it. Still thinking about looking into it. Last night I was laying in bed wondering this: If you're recording your drums, vocals, and guitar at 96k, can you still add tracks using a software sampler like Kontakt? I assume Akai discs are either 48k or 44.1k - which I assume would be incompatible with 96k recording - but I really have no idea. Can anyone tell me? Are you stuck recording at 44.1k if you want to use sampled instruments? Kato |
