Thread Starter | Oktava ribbon mod's on cheap ribbons
Anyone ever try any of these mod's on cheap ribbons they have? As I am looking to get a ribbon mic for the first time, it looks like I could save a lot of money getting one of those cheap Apex ribbons and getting it moded rather than spending 1,000$ plus on one...Let me know

don't know about the octava mods, but jon over at shinybox just modded a cheap ribbon for me and it sounds pretty $%#$@ing good. i have some good ribbons to compare it to and the mod put it in the same general ballpark. not quite as wonderful as my high end ribbons but very usable. an excellent introduction into the ribbon society. bill |
