there are a few threads already regarding the ensemble, and you can do a search.
however, most of those threads are really long, and lack focus.

I think this question is legitimate, and you shouldn't shrugg him off so quickly.

Tom, I don't own an Ensemble yet, but I'm saving up. otherwise I'd surely give you my opinion, though I would be using it with Logic.

I use an Ensemble with LogicPro on a MacPro 2,66 and I'm really happy with it.

The interface sounds many times better than the 828 I used before, it is very well designed and built rock solid. You get very good sounding mic preamps and top AD/DA conversion with soft limit and UV22 dithering. The Maestro low latency mixer is easy to use and you can even re-record the Ensemble output (including external gear) internally into your audio software. The integration with core audio is also a good thing, because you can use the Ensemble with virtually any application (minus ProTools) at any time.

Its really worth the price!

To be fair... there are two flaws with the current firmware on my machine. One thing is, that sometimes the sound cuts out after changing the sample rate from 44.1 to 48 khz for example and requires a restart. 2nd, I get one very short dropout and click everytime when sound is playing and I open an application or change the output volume via the keyboard.

But I think these are very special problems, because it seems I'm the only one experiencing that and on my PowerBook G4 everything is fine. The support is very responsive and kind. They (the german distributor) called me even back on my email and I'm sure they'll fix it soon, maybe with the recently announced firmware upgrade introducing the standalone mode. The usability is not affected at all.

If you have more question, feel free to ask.

Greetings, Matthias
