Haven' t heard anyone ranting about these lately. Is anyone using these on a regular basis and for what? I have the opportuinity to try one out in the next couple of weeks. Once the novelty has worn off are people still loving these puppies? |

There is gear that is still good even when people stop talking about it. Since you have the opportunity to try it out you should proceed and decide with your own ears. | |

Wow. You know your right Jackassman, what's the point of posting a question about gear on a forum called "gearslutz" when it's already been talked about. Thanks so much for your practical advise. |

Hopefully, the reason no one has posted anything regarding the subject, is because they are too busy putting the thing to good use. I know I am!!

i use mine every day on everything imaginable. (and yes, i do have other excellent mics) The acoustic guitar sound that i've been hearing in my head all my life is achievable without any eq. Vocals (when 1-2 feet back) are smooth and rich without sibalance. I would consider this a nearly perfect mic. If i had to record with only one mic, this would probably be it. Even over my schoeps. A little inside tip, fresh from the horses mouth. The R84 is going up in price very soon, like in 2 weeks? I am doing dealer notices now. $1100 is the new retail. Brad

Well I coudn't be happier with R84. Even with the new price hike it's still worth having. I've changed all my mics now and the R84 has a special place in the collection. Lets face it mics and pres are like golf clubs, you just can't play with one type of club throughout the whole course with any high degree of success. Nick |

loving my R84 on all kinds of stuff- horns, guitar cabs, vox, percussion It's different and that's what I like about it. I think the golf club analogy doesn't go far enough- its not like having a different driver or iron in your golf bag- its like having a baseball bat or a tennis racket in your golf bag. |
