SPL Volume 2 and 8

Hi!!

Is there anyone working with the SPL Volume 2 or 8 monitor controller?? This thing looks really nice and meets my monitoring needs. I do not need a headphone amp etc. What's really strange is that I have looked everywhere but there does not seem to be any user information or even reviews anywhere! Is this thing so bad? Is nobody interested?? You can find a lot of info about the 2831 but that is quite old compared to the Volume 2 and 8. I want to buy one but would like to know if this unit comprimises audio quality or stereo image in some way? So basically i need to know if somebody did test to see if its transparant. Hope somebody can help? Thanks!

I've got a Volume 2 between a MOTU Ultralite, Tannoy Reveal 6D monitors and a Blue Sky Sub 8 Universal. I bought it because sometimes I had to crank down a lot the Ultralite output level, and I noticed it sounded a bit harsh due to the loss of resolution.

So far I'm very happy with it. I haven't noticed anything unusual, other than I don't seem to get (this is *completely subjective*) any abnormal coloration by turning the volume up or down. Of course, the resolution loss is gone :)

And the volume knob has a nice feeling. Moreover, being big and including a number scale makes it really convenient. I recorder the three calibration points for K-12, K-14 and K-20 and it's really nice.

The manual includes a frequency response plot that is indeed flat, and a phase shift plot showing just a slight phase shift at high frequencies.

So, I'm happy and I think my €300 were well spent.
