Peterson StroboFlip

Does anyone have this tuner or has tried it out? My old tuner has served me faithfully for seven years but now it's starting to crap out on me.

Specifically about the stroboflip, I'm wondering about whether the tuning pickup is usable or even good as opposed to it just being a marketing gimmick.

TIA

Don't know about the Strobo Flip but I have the VS2 and two Strobo Stomps and they are great tuners. The Strobo Stomp also doubles as a DI.

To the original poster: I don't know anything about the stroboflip, sorry!

To mbrebes: Any comment on the quality of the DI in the StroboStomp? I just saw this today and was wondering how it compared to, say, a Radial JDV.

I got a Stroboflip about 6 months ago and it has been fantastic for me. I haven't even used the pickup to tune acoustics, I just put the tuner on my knee next to my guitar or mandolin or what have you and tune the instrument using the Stroboflip's little built in mic. It also is amazing for electrics. My guitars have never had such a well-aligned overtone series. Chords are a whole different experience.

I also think that it's a great size, easy to use and a terrific value for the price point.

I've got a stroboflip. Picked it up a couple months back, so far I think it's great. I have used the acoustic pick up thing a few times, worked fine. Haven't had much chance to get too deep into some of the cooler things about it, but it's the best tuner I've ever owned.

It is VERY sensitive though. I find I have to make sure to mute all my other strings when tuning otherwise it starts to freak out. So it does take a bit of getting used to, it's just VERY sensitive.

I bought a Stroboflip 2 days ago, I was very excited, but I have had nothing but trouble with it.

I called Peterson, and spoke with a very nice tech who check the calibration over the phone, and offer a few suggestions already included in the manual. But that was the best they could do. This was the "display" model, so perhaps something is busted?

I will be the first to admit this tuner, once I learn how to use will be great, but I cannot figure out why it keeps tuning my acc gtr 20 cents sharp (at least according to my Korg tuner). It is set to 440hz, but for the life of me I cannot get my guitar (which is intonated) in tune.

I tried the mic, the mic and the clip-on pad, and still no success. I'm sure that I am doing something wrong, because I work with people who use other Peterson products with great results.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thx,
JFK

Tech support played a high E note from a tone generator over the speakerphone, to test the response. That was the extent of the testing.

The unit responded fine.

Just an update

I picked up the stroboflip yesterday and recorded with it today.

The hype about it stands up to the test. It makes my acoustic sound so clear and clean. Definitely worth the money

A cheaper alternative that's worked great for me thus far.
