which sucks less?

Hello. Does anyone in here own a Behringer B1 that likes it for something? Does the higher range sound any better on a SP b1? Also, if I am running a Behringer B1 through a SP VTB-1, will I be able to hear a difference between the two mics. I know you guys would recommend a whole bunch of nice expensive mics, but I am freaking broke.

Otherwise, I will post a "What is your favorite mic?" thread every hour on the hour.

Perhaps the Oktava 319 might be a better chioce if you need a condenser mic in that range. You could probably find a good one if you look hard.

Behringer is generally considered a step below mackie if that tells you anything. I've never heard their mics, but they are not known for quality products. I've heard a few of the boards and they sound like shit. I've heard a few of the Studio Projects mics, and they don't blow me away but they're great for the money. A friend of mine loves the T3 which I haven't heard.

And as for the oktava stuff, it's good sound for the money, but the build quality scares me. I've tried the 012's and the Ribbons and they are both worth the money for the sound quality. The 012's vary in tone and output and the clips strip out easily. That said, they don't sound too bad.

Everyone says that Behringer mics sound like shit. But no one posts any recordings with it. Does anyone have one? I tried the mic and it sounded OK. But I know jack about how to make a good quality recording. I could record with the SP b1 and make it sound crappy. Does anyone have any Behringer b1 versus SP b1 recordings to compare?

pdadda - The best rule is if you like it, then get it. I doubt anyone on this board has a recording comparing those two mics.

If it meets your needs and makes you happy, then buy two.

There are better microphones out there, but not many cheaper.

Saving a few more bones for a TLM103 or MG930 sucks less than buy something that you basically have to plan on replacing from day one. Even a used SM81 will blow these options out the door.
An SM7 can be had for about 350 new. There is another option.

But, if your buying a LD condenser for the apperance only, I would suggest.........rethinking your plan.

Watch the bay...if you do a search for 414, geffel, sm81, and hell a beta58.....You will be suprised at how cheap you can get into something that will suck less.

If you want have the music shop hook up a 57 and the beringer.
I think you will be suprised.
Large diaphram/condenser don't mean sh!t.

Buying something that has a track record not only insures a better likelyhood of joy but, you can sell it for what you paid in most cases. Even a 57.
