Can you just buy the MOTU 424 by itself?

Hi all-

I've looked on various sites to see if I can find an answer to this and I think I know what it is...no. However, I did read one guys reference to "waiting for his 424 to show up" on another site, so I was curious if you could buy the 424 PCI card minus the 2408MKIII or the like.

Reason being I've got a 2408MKII that I don't dislike, but it's not running very consistantly with OS X and MOTU's newest drivers.

I'm just kind of hoping there's a way to get a 424 card so that I can use my 2408MKII happily in OS X. I'm also broke for the foreseeable future, so the cheapest solution is the winner...

Any thoughts appreciated.

Lee

go to www.motu.com and go to upgrades. you can upgrade your 324 card to the 424 card for like $269 or something like that.

Perfect. That's what I was praying they might have in place. Thanks so much for the info.

This deal is only for registered 324 owners, though, and they're serious about that. I never sent my registration card in, and when I called to upgrade, they told me I'd have to find my original purchase receipt or they couldn't do anything for me. I'm not sure what that's about--maybe it's some kind of non-competition agreement with their retailers, or something?

I lucked out and my local vendor, Computers and Music, always has copies on their computers of everything I've ever bought from them. They coughed out a reciept and even faxed it to MOTU for me. Reason #20034 to go to a smaller vendor instead of GC:)

Now I just have to wait 3-4 week while MOTU works through a backlog of orders.

I'm hoping this will resolve the endless crashes I'm experiencing in Logic daily. I get this lovely black matrix of code that pops up that even rivals my hate of Blue Screens of Death on PCs. Grrrrrrr.
