| Lexicon FX Digital I/O Limited to 44.1/48kHz?
I've long thought about adding a Lexicon reverb/FX unit to my rig, but I'm astounded that every unit Lexicon current makes (aside from the 960) is apparantly limited to 44.1kHz or 48kHz over digital I/O.
I understand this limitation (to some extent) on less expensive models like the MX200 and MX400 and perhaps on an older midrange unit like the MPX1 (44.1 only!), but the PCM81 and PCM91? And the brand new MX300? Even Lexicon's desktop recording systems (Omega, Lambda and Alpha) look like 44.1/48kHz only. If the A/D and D/A use lower sample rates, I don't care as long as the conversion sounds good, but I would definitely want to connect a Lexicon to my DAW as a send/receive effect over S/PDIF. I'm not suggesting that projects recorded in 44.1/48kHz can't sound good. I'm still running 44.1 but I'm going to make the leap to 88.2/96kHz soon and I'd hate to buy an expensive outboard device that can't sync to higher sample rate projects.
Am I missing something or is Lexicon the only company in their class still making outboard gear that can't sync to 88.2/96kHz? Has anyone tried interfacing with their Lexicon units at higher sample rates?
