Lightbulb * * * IF YOU LIKE THE iPHONE * * *

hi jules just posted this in music and computers but thought
you guys should see this too...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esDhF9TgLPQ&NR

jeff han demonstrates a wait for it..... 36" touch screen interface

seems to be using the same technology as what's in the iphone,
but the demonstration is from febuary 2006!!

my guess is apple have licensed this technology and intend to integrate
it into future apple products.. we'll see

the implications for most of us are obviously huge and could explain
amongst other things why logic 8 has a taken while to appear.

enjoy, tony

p.s. also good to see that you don't have to wear mickey mouse gloves or
'i-condoms' on your index fingers to use it.

These guys should drink waaaaaay less caffeine before a presentation.

Someday you'll get a holographic representation of the sound and you'll be able to walk up to it and manipulate it; you'll be able to step into any temporal scale.

Then we'll really wish we had saved the tape recorders.

It's funny I just bought a 30" LCD screen a couple of months ago. I was thinking that if they could make one big enough you could use it almost like a control surface if the screen was touch sensitive.

That was very cool, thanks for posting it.

there's also a book by a guy called david gibson called 'the art of mixing'
he has a similar way to 'look' at sound.

Check out http://www.jazzmutant.com

Their product, the Lemur, is exactly what you're talking about. It comes in a 12 or 14" screen, but if they could make it 30 or 32" that would be pretty serious.
