| Just moved to a cabin. how can i fireplace proof my equip Hey everyone. I have just done very well for myself and am retreating for the res of the winter in Tahoe. Its so cold here and i have to pay the bills so i am burning wood in the fireplace. my equipment is going to be pretty close to the fireplace cause thats how i want it. is there some type of material that i can place over the air inlets on my computer/ keyboard/preamps? i know marley liked to blow umm somke on his tapes but in this sense maybe i should avoid polluting my stuff! thanks c |

| Lives for gear | Depends on if you have carpet or not. If you do, get a cat. Should be lots of fun.

FWIW, I lived in a 20 X 20 log cabin (with only wood heat) for many years: so long as you don't let the indoor temp drop low enough that condensation might occur while warming the place back up... And don't worry too much re: the woodsmoke - it can get dusty from ash floating around when cleaning the stove, so keep the kit blanketed when not in use, but otherwise that type of environment is fine (in my personal experience) The only other thing is putting a pot of water on the woodstove - both to humidify the room a bit, and to make tea! Unless you find static discharges creeping into the electronic signals, don't fret about this either. It sometimes was a problem when using a R to R deck (kind of dates me, huh!) but most times was never an issue. Made some killer demo's in that cabin - nothing like wood floors and arched ceiling - I'm extremely jealous... Best

| Actually that isn't bad as 45ish% is about perfect. It will probably get lower than that depending on atmospheric conditions and if you keep a stove stoked 24/7.
