man they' ve building mics that sound like a U-47 ever since the U-47 came first on the market about what .... 60 years ago or so .... why do those low price range mics allways have to be compared to legends ? ... there's nothing to gain from it anyhow ... there's some nice low budget mics out there ... dunno about this ma200 but there are some which are worth well more then they cost ... studio projects for example ... tested some of them a while ago and was quite honestly very surprised.

I did the kit when it was first released; I have had the mic for well over a year now.

it is very warm sounding; thick in the 300-400hz area. it sounds MUCH better than it did stock; but I would stop - very short - of calling it a budget U47.

It is a nice mic; it works well and was a great learning experience to build.

But it is not my go to mic at all. I have a Soundelux U195 and Blue Dragonfly that see far more work in my project studio.

Just my opinion.
