IBP reamping latency question

If I want to make phase adjustments while reamping, how would I deal with latency? Normally I put a single click at the beginning of the audio that's to be reamped and then match that up after it's been re-recorded. Would I not bother with that all? Just dial in the phase adjustment, which I guess in and of itself will change the latency time, until it sounds right? Where I get confused is if I'm listening to the sound of say the DI'ed bass combined with the reamped bass that's being newly recorded, if I dial in the phase until it sounds good, wouldn't that all change after I line up the click, or again, would I just not do that. Sorry... this confuses me. Thanks

if you need to make phase adjustments, is there another track your trying to blend it with? the original miced tracked, and your re-amping the di from the same performance?

ummm. its a bass? use a very very high pitched click as the reference

unfortunatly you prolly should have corrected the phase durring tracking using the IBP as the Di box and aplying phase then. just for simplicity, and you could have gone about your normal reamping method. but this is still normal

But if you put the very very high pitched click on the DI track, BEFORE you reamp it, it should be fine when you line it up. I dont think the adjustments you are going to be making are going to really make a huge difference (in my scenario w/ a very high frequency click sound, and a bass as the track being adjusted into phase). line it back up and listen.

I love the friggen IBP. Let us know what happens whatever you do

Hey Matt... if you don't like what the IBP is doing for the blend when reamping... Put it on the DI track in the mix after reamping. You might not even worry about lining them up if it's sounding right,,, or line up the tracks first and then try the IBP on the DI track if it helps...

Well, even if I line them up, by the time the recorded DI signal goes through the converters, IBP, into the amp, out the speakers, into the mic, back through more cables, into a mic pre, EQ, comp, etc. and then gets converted back to digital, the phase will probably have changed drastically. I'll just line it up and then make adjustments while mixing. Only problem is: 1 IBP. I'd like two or three more mixing, as well as about a dozen other pieces of gear. Peace.

maybee I should have said...

If you use high High pitched click sound for the reference, it should be out of the range of the phase taking place (Likely set to LOW range ,On a bass, for obvious reasons) and not be affected by IBP, so slip it into place w/o fear and then listen.
