Electrix Filter Factory vs Wah for sweeps

Greetings Gearslutz,

I wonder if you could tell me:

For creating filter sweeps, a guitarist who had a midi exp pedal and a controller that could send the right CC might use an Electrix Filter Factory for filter sweeps...

I wonder how this would compare to using just a Wah pedal?

Are they basically accomplishing the same thing, but the results would sound distinct because of the technology/components etc used?
