Thread Starter | Best Mic Stand for SE Reflexion Filter
I checked out a few threads on this board, but couldn't find anything conclusive as to a good stock mic stand to use with this thing that doesn't fall over due to the weight of the filter. I tried weighing down my tripod with dumbells, but that doesn't work particularly well on the carpet I have, which could be the fundamental problem. What are people currently using, and does anyone have any suggestions? I will primarily be recording acoustic guitars (sitting) and vocals (standing). I'd ideally like to shell out less money for the mic stand than I did for the Reflexion filter. Thanks, Nathan |

i have a QuikLok A50 and it is quite formidable: http://www.music123.com/Quik-Lok-A50...s-i87045.music it is sturdy, heavy as hell, and worth the money.. i paid $180 for it when i bought it but the link i provided is much cheaper. i think it is a great stand and you would never worry about your expensive tube mic suddenly droppping to the ground and being destroyed. hope that helps, ~j.d.

just use two stands...one for your mic and one for the filter. that way you don't need their (way too heavy) adapter - the screen can be fitted on a standard mic stand. jakob |

| heavy-duty mic stand
I'm using an Ultimate Support MC-125. I like it - well made, sturdy, nice boom, heavy adjustable counterweight. Did cost about $200. Worth it in my experience. Would be worth it without the filter, and it does hold the filter just fine. Also, I like the filter. My room is treated, but still has compromises - and is one room track&mix. The filter damped the remaining hard drive noise and room reflections to inaudibility. Rob |
