| SPIKE: Massive Attack, Bjork, Fischerpooner, Madonna, KLF, Keane, Gwen Stefani, Goldfrapp ... and probably the next Radiohead.Lots of people who mixed for Trevor Horn so Steve MacMillan, Stephen Lipson, Tim Weidner, Julian Mendelson... They probably had a very good raw material but they wasn't there by chance... ![]() |

| Out of interest, what is the going rate for a top rated mixer these days? e.g. the names mentioned in this thead (Stent, Brauer etc.)... Per song is it somewhere between $5000 and $12000? Or do I have it completely wrong? Just curious. |

| My list covers many, many of the above. I just want to second two things above: 1) "Woman in Chains" has me coming back to that CD all the time even tho I'm not a big fan of "Seeds of Love". 2) Tom Petty's Wildflowers is definately my desert island #1 album. Major, major props to the production team on that one. It's a shame it didn't get the grammy that year (thanks, Alanis. We love you anyway). Wildflowers, IMHOP, deserves a place as one of the best albums of all time. (Gee, I sound like a fan) 3) All on my own. I just need to throw Hank Shocklee into the mix. I think he defines a sound. |

| was just listening to "UP" by Shania yesterday in the car. I've always thought that was one of the best-sounding pop albums of our time. It's got an awful lot of programmed drums and keyboard/Rompler arrangements, but no more so than did "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard, considered by many an epic of the hard rock genre. Very nicely mixed album by a first-rate crew.
