Just change '10 Cent Wings' to 'Steady Pull', and I'm good with these two.

P.S. I also love the mixes by Mr. John Paterno on "Soraya" album.
Hey Armando are you talking about her english language album? It's a real shame about her

[quote=Steve MacMillan;1057170]Thanks, that made my day. Especially being mentioned along side Jack.

Hey Stevie Mac! I'm glad I could make your day. You sure made mine when I put on that Seal ll cd about 16 or so years ago! I can't believe it's been that long. It's always been a benchmark for me. Just beautiful! I'm still trying to catch up to it.

No, I'm talking about his Spanish album "Soraya" mixed by JP and they also won a Latin Grammy for that record.
I recorded Soraya on 2004 and I remember that she told me a lot about John Paterno, she loved his work.

Best regards.

Spike Stent doth rule.

Alan Moulder doesn't exactly suck.

Terry Date's mixes on "Adrenaline" and "White Pony" are irrefutably amazing.

For radio, no one on earth beats Chris Lord Alge.

Steve MacMillan's mixes on the Seal records are incredible.

Neil Avron is pretty wicked. Kevin Killen's great.

I am pleased to see that we have already had some of your favorites as special guests for Q & A sessions and several have become active members here.

If you want Gearslutz.com to ask your favorite mixing engineer to do an on-line Q & A session, here's what to do to help make it happen.

Track down the management company that looks after them, and PM me the email details (don't post the info out on the forum)

I can take it from there..

I hope that's not 5 out of 10 stars.
I'd give him a 9.75 for technical merit. 4.5 for his dance steps.
Yes he is one of the elite.

I had the honor of spending several years with Steve Remote aka Remoteness in his early days. It was an great experience learning with him and from him (and I taught him everything I knew!)

Definitely one of the best engineers around. Just look at his client list

I do have to name here Mr Jim Scott, who was only once shortly mentioned for co-mixing 'Car Wheels On A Gravel Road' with Rick Rubin, which, in fact, is great work. But mentioning that album only might lead to wrong conclusions, mind you, we're talking about the man who mixed 'Californication' and 'By The Way' for the Chilli Peppers as well as 'One By One' for Foo Fighters, two really great REEF albums, a couple of songs on the last Nikka Costa album, and a whole lot more great stuff once you start reading the album covers.

Another man I would like to mention is Dave Sardy. I really like his work on the last JET as well as WOLFMOTHER.

IMO Hard rock is the hardest to mix record and mix

Randy Staub
the absolute king of Modern rhythm guitar sounds

Kevin Shirley

Also a mention to The greatest guitar sound ever put to tape was early Van Halen. Don Lendee --Ted Templeman get kudos for this one achievement in history. Eddie used that marshall on other albums with other guys at the helm but never got that sound again.

Dont take offence..this is just my view:
I give Pop mixers no votes. I am dumbfounded by the praise of pop mixes. Drum, bass, and guitar sounds are everything in a Rock mix or you've got nothing. You can use anything in Pop because the instruments dont even matter. I know some engineers drool over Michael Jackson but the listening public doesnt even hear the instruments in those mixes nor do they even care. Not so in rock. Im not saying they are not hyper talented but if they cant do the Black Album, or Staubs sick guitar, bass and drum, if they havnt killed in Rock --then they're not a blackbelt yet IMO. 3 instruments is harder than 60 little jangely sequenced tracks that no average pop listener even gives a second thought about. Go ahead punch me...but the Jedi are those who unleash the power in Rock.(thats why there are so few truly great rock mixes)

On the other end--Movie score mixers are top notch too.

Andy Johns--yummy drums

guys who transcend genre's --Wallace and Michael Brauer

and so many others.

I don't think I would mention that Chilli Peppers album (which sounds overly compressed to my ears, although that could have been done in mastering); I would mention the fact that Jom Scott engineered Tom Petty's Wildflowers album.
