cubase sx4 - which audio interface should i get

Hi..
i've just gone from protools le to the new cubase 4..there's now way i'm gonna keep my digi002 and run it with cubase..so can anyone advise me on what audio interface runs nice & stable with cubase ?

i'm looking to go for something above the £600 tag and have been told that alot of the motu gear runs best with cubase..but can anyone tell me if it's good idea or not to go for a high peice like an apogee, rme fireface800 or maybe a metric halo..will these be ok on cubase??????????

i've used both the motu 828mkII and the RME fireface 800 with cubase SX 3.1 and both interfaces were rock solid. i'm currently using the RME and IMO the converters are way better than the motu was. i think it's definitely worth paying more for the extra I/O and higher quality converters. (i got one for $1000 used).

i mostly monitor directly through cubase. However, i found that the motu's cuemix was a little more user friendly than the RME totalmix.

hope i was of some help.

I use RME.. But I'd say at least get a RME Digiface.. so that you can use whatever converter you what to use. I use the Digiface with ADI8 pros.

As an option, you can get ASIO drivers for 002 from digidesign.com and keep running it before buying the new audio interface.

Cheers,
Vitaly.

I've had the same experience. Except, I preferred the Totalmix from RME over the CueMix from MOTU.
