password management software

kind of audio related...especially considering i need something
like this for my location audio iBook:

do any of you Mac OSX folks use password management
software of any sort? i've got passwords for websights,
merchants, you name it...and currently they're all on
various "stickies" in the stickie app.

is there a freeware (preferred) or cheap-ish good
piece of software that can manage and sort
all my passwords? i found a bunch online, but
would prefer a real-world user's opinion.

thanks,
marty.

I use a brilliant app. called CiphSafe. it's cheap and very simple to use. cost a few $ as far as I can remember.

I actually have a little book that I keep all of my passwords in. They are all hand written, which may or may not be safer. I try to not keep any passwords on my computer because I don't really trust how safe they are. For some additional safety I purposely add "dummy" letters and/or numbers. So let’s say my password is "Zach". I would write down "b06zach". I can then remember what my password is without it being too obvious to other people.

I know this is a somewhat low tech option, but it has worked for me.

I find passwords, and more importantly - usernames - to be a friggin pain in the buttocks. I have so many, and it's just relentless.

All this password crap (with the rare exception of banking) isn't for my benefit at all! It is simply to "protect" the software vendor. And in doing so, they make my life a living hell.

I like to pay for my software, but having done so, I like to be able to use it. I'm funny like that. I figure the @$$#*!$ who steal software shouldn't be able to enjoy their software more than the people who pay for it.

Then one day a light switched on. There is no real reason to keep your passwords secure. Simply save them all in a notepad file on your c:\. Save the user name and password as simple text, which you can cut & paste into the app.

Sure - if somebody steals your PC, they might be able to enjoy a bunch of free software by using these codes. Who cares? Not me any more! In most cases, i've registered the software using my email, so the vendor would be alerted if somebody tried to register it in their name. And if not, who cares? Not me!

Just a simple text editor file is all you need. Save it to your desktop - name it "passwords" if you like. Be reckless - because nothing should stop you enjoying software you have paid for.

Check out 1passwd from Agile Web Solutions. It is a great program that not only keeps track of all your passwords, but will also generate new, secure passwords for you. I have been using it for about 6 months and I like it. It has a free demo you can download and check out. It works in conjunction with keychain.

For PC, I hear that Roboform is good.

I just use an Excell spreadsheet and store the file on a USB memory keychain.
