Temples of Sound

Got it for Christmas

Is a great book and should be a must read for any AE , if your new you can and will learn from it and if your old you will remember how it was done the right way ,... And how it still is done in some rooms

it might even inspire you to try a few proven recording techniques

Some great shots of the killer rooms where the focus in the recording was on the room sound and great performances

Our buddy Bruce Sweden is in there and also talks about Bill Putnam and how he helped to push the recording studio design and console design ahead and is responsible for the way we do things even today,

Quote:
"Recording music in the studio used to be a romantic endeavor. Between the late 1940s and the late 1970s, players by and large were all in the same space at the same time, along with the engineer, who was piloting the whole deal."

Anyone else checked this out ?

Unfortunately there are numerous inaccuracies in it. Many of the pictures are from the wrong studios even!

I also read the book once. They had it in the local library. I accidently stumled across it. And I was about to buy it back then. No kidding, sometimes life has nice surprises like that.

The book is worth buying I think.

Hey all. Used to have that book but mislaid it somewhere. Could anyone tell me what mic the Everly Brothers are using in that picture. I'm a big fan. Thanks.
