Stereo Mixing through Chameleon Labs DI's???

I'm trying to avoid using a patchbay at this point. I'll have 11-16 channels coming through from the tracking room. I'll likely just plug the M ends into the pre ins and go out from the pre's into my soundcard via short cables or a snake.

With this in mind, I shouldn't need a Patchbay. I'm getting a Preson Central station to monitor. It has 2 track outs on 1/4". If I want to do a Stereo Mix through my Chameleon Labs 7602's; could't I just leave a couple of 1/4" ins hanging from the back of the Central Station and just plug them into the front of my Chameleon Labs when 2 bussing?
It seems like if there are no volume issues, I should be able to even leave them in the DI jacks and only push the button during 2 track mixdown time. If I need the DI, I can just unplug it for a minute.

This would save me from needing a patchbay for now if that would work. Otherwise, I'll have to climb around every time I do a 2 track mix through the 7602's.

Thanks.
Rich

By the way:: I haven't reported since I picked up 2 7602's. They sound amazing on everything I've done so far.

Don't the C-Labs units have an xlr line input on the back? I think you should use them. I know that means you'll have to climb around the back, but if you're like most engineers, you could use the exercise!
