Thread Starter | What's on your ceiling (acoustically speaking)?
I've got GIK traps in my 4 corners, and and 3 other GIK's (1 on left, right, and back wall) in my mix / composing room. I've got pretty a high multi-slanted ceilings and all hardwood floors. The sound is really coming together. I think I need a carpet, and something on the cieling about the mix position. What do you use, what's light enough to hang without danger of it coming down on my and cracking my head open.

I've got a drop ceiling w/ 4" acoustic tile. Sounds like you can't do that, so I would suggest getting some foam. I like this stuff: http://www.markertek.com/Product.asp...&search=0&off=

Same as ours. We'd lifted some 50-60 of Auralex sheets from a warehouse clearance a while ago for peanuts and they were far too many than we'd ever need. So I blocked them in 4s and 5s until I used them all up, and hung them down from the ceiling with a gap in between roughly equal to the block thickness. It did the job not greatly, but okay-ish, for the ceiling is far too low here, but what the hell. Gotta utilize what's in hand. I did the same for the mix/auditioning area as well and it works. B. |
