can motu 828 mk1 work as a standalone converter?

im thinking of getting an 828 BLA modded to use via lightpipe into my Digi 001, as well as clocking the digi converters.

just wondering if the MK1 will work as a standalone converter when not connected as an interface. I know the MK2 can but I havent been able to find out if the MK1 does. thanks!
