Anyone know a good tech?

I'm having some issues with a few pieces of equipment and how it's intergrated with my system. I was wondering if anyone knew a good tech that will come to your place to do troubleshooting in Indianapolis, IN?

If anyone can give me a hint as to what my problem can be it would mucho appreciated.

Problem:

DBX 160x compressors, audio sounds fine when bypassed, but when engaged it sounds like someone put a high pass filter on the signal

Demeter VTCL-2 compressor, balanced outputs going to eq, sounds like high pass filter on the signal, unbalanced outputs going to same eq is fine. Balanced outputs going to patchbay but multed off to bypass the eq, sounds fine. Balanced output from different compressor, distressor, to patchbay, to eq, no problems.

This is drving me bonkers!! Please help a man out.

Thanks,
Perry

I gotta tell you, call around to the studios locally and see if a good EE can come by. Getting one of the serious guys from NY, Nashville, or LA is TOO EXPENSIVE.

Shipping the gear out for service is not ridiculously expensive IMO. Is this an option?

Bruce Breckenfeld @ the Chicago Recording Company is the tits!!! Closer than NY or LA or Nash.

Very reasonable hourly rates. He does do housecalls too, but Indy might be a bit far for travel...

Just a thought.

Sounds like a pin2/pin3 issue with either your cableing or (more than likely) your patchbays.

I bought my console from a guy in Indianapolis, IN. He may know a tech in that area. PM me and I'll see if I can find his number or email in the mean time.

agh!

Thanks,
This stuff just drives me crazy. I would send it out, but I have a lot of new things with just a few glitches. I just want to make sure that it's not how I have things configured causing the problems before I send things out for repair. As far as the Chi town guy, it would probably cost more than the repair itself for that.

My friend always told me that if you have tits or wheels you're gonna have problems, but he forgot to mention silicon!

pin 2/3

I tried that on the back the Demeter it has a switch for changing which pin is hot. I tried setting it to 2, then 3, then combinations of them.
