Need Opinions on Sound Quality

I have a marshall jcm 900 and for metal I use a Gie Ibanez. I mostly use a digitech grunge distortion pedal and it gives a harsh mean sound. The only problem is it does give a horrible fuzz with it when i play and it sounds terrible at high volume. I would prefer a sound like arch enemy or dimmu borgir as i love this insaine distortion and i LOVE the bass but i cannot find any of their rigs on the internet.

Can anyone reccomend a better pedal or equalizer setup to get this style of sound?

I've heard from friends that the boss mt2 distortion pedals are one of the better pedals around for that crunchy, grinding tone. I'm a bassplayer myself, and try to stick to just using my Mesa M2000's eq and comp for effects. G'luck.

Boss Mt2 Metalzone, then a delay (I like Boss DD3 or 5), then a GE7 GraphEQ.

Massive.

If you're getting distortion from a pedal, try running into the clean channel of the 900. Otherwise you're going to be conflicting with the incredibly shitty diode clipping distortion that's built in. Or have the amp modded.
