You'll get a better so what response if you post this in the guitar subforum.

P90s are single coils. They have a fatter sound than Strat SCs, and sound much better with crunchy or distorted amps.

Looked everywhere for a video of a p90 sub machine gun destroying a strat.

Couldn't believe there wasn't one.

Love single coil pickup's, but really love P90's

I realize that they are both single coil pick up's, but you know what I mean.

Both single coil but totally different sounding. Traditional strat pickups have that, or should have that, distinctive bell-like sound. Whereas, P90s are more agressive, in a good way. P90s are classic sounding pickups. I prefer them to PAF 57s or Burstbuckers.

I don't know the technical words, but start pickups have this distinct peak that just seems to cut through. P90's are thicker and and less chimey. Still great as singles, but a thicker tone which has a nice overdriven grind. I consider p90's to fit in the middle between a single in a Tele, and a low output HB.

I put a P94 in place of the bridge humbucker that was original equipment on my custom Strat.

Sounds fantastic in combination with the Strat single coils.

My strat has a much shinier, punchy sound. My les paul with p90s has a thick gritty sizzle & breaks up much sooner.

P90's are much better with steak. Strat pickups go well with fish.

I like fish but I'd never turn down a good steak.

On a strat... I'm a fan of HSS ... single coil on the middle and neck, and humbucker in the bridge. You can get beefy with the humbucker with tone rolled off.

The only sacrifice is position 2 (the quacky sound).

This is just my preference, however.

I've got P-90 fever pretty bad, but I want a Collings, so wait I must.

I much prefer a good P-90 to an HB in the neck position for clarity and definition.

I also like the TV Jones Pickups, so I'm torn.
