nice one!

last night i was working on a new song with friends and we were chasing a full on doom stoner sound for one of the guitar parts.

we ended up with a jazzmaster into a geen russian bigmuff into a tym fuzz munchkin into a bogen pa hooked up to an orange 212 cab.

it sounded insanely good! so good i woke up this morning and bought 2 diy bigmuff circuit boards online so i can build a version.

Muffs do the stoner-doom thing well. Superfuzz is an interesting beast, probably a little more "open" sounding than an Octavia. The tone switch helps there alot.

Plenty of good fuzzes named. The Harmonic Percolator and it's clones are a notable, if currently a touch obscure, mention. There's a review of a clone here : Mellifluous Pussy MP-1 Harmonic Percolator Clone by Inductor Guitars Effect Demo - YouTube

Might start building mine tomorow. For the cost of the build, there's no way I'd ever buy one!

haha thank you guys so much. and jazz noise, Ireland is the best country ever. I need something to end my fuzz appetite, only if i could make superfuzz, rams head big muff, fender blender vintage, live would be perfect.

Are you living here at the moment? I have to say out this far west, best country ever would be a controversial statement!

And no need to think. I'm only ever looking for an excuse to talk shop!

Literaly the first and only time I've ever heard of someone missing Mayo. Maybe line-dancers or showband fans. You have heard the Irish showbands, right?

If you want the combination of Blender (octave fuzz) and Muff, the EQD Tone Reaper is it. It's a Muff variant, a Tonebender variant and a really useful octave in one box, all separately foot switchable!

Kits for the Rams Head are extremely common. Surprised you said that over the darker russian.

I never understood why someone didn't release a variable tonestock. Either stick a rotary or a pot in that allows you to get between various capacitances to get the cutoffs Russiany-or-ToneWickery etc. Octave pedals run into a fuzz sound pretty good. I like my Octavia going through my Muff, especialy with the tone control out of circuit. It's a cool sound that's not totaly alien. Just a touch..vibier.

Kinda OT but does anyone own a Germanium 4 Muff or have a schematic? The bias control fascinates me!
