Marshall Plexi....Year....Color...etc

So what year was the Reissue Plexi's
Is the colors a rare find ? and what year ?
I have saw Red, Purple and White with the small 6 inch white / gold logo, no all white.

I would like to hear some info on these from you Marshall amp freaks.

INPUT..........I am all ears and wanting to learn, not a lot of info on the net, or at least I am not finding it.

1988 was the first time Marshall re-ssued their amps, which was their 1973 plexi, as for colors, who knows

Rare1988 Marshall 1959S Plexi Reissue Rockstah mod 5 modified ,modded Super lead | eBay

1973 Marshall Super Lead 100 Reissue 1959s Amplifier JMP | eBay

I've seen Sligo's plexi head (the one below is in purple - JTM45) go for $500-700 used.

Sligo JTM-45 Plexi Tube Hand Wired Guitar Amplifier Head..Boutique EL 34 | eBay

Joe Walsh bought one of these from Steve. Good enough for him. Actually, this is a better amp than the 1988 Marshall (1973) plexi reissue.

Well I was looking to see how well the re issue Plexis are?
To be honest I have a 73 MK ll super lead and trying out a re issue Plexi (Purple), I like the sound much better from the Plexi vs the org 73 non plexi. I still like both though, depends on what you are looking for.
My Fuchs Viper and Purple Plexi seems to beat out the 73 MK ll

Call me crazy, but the Marshall 1958 is the king. Not volume, but tone.

is that 1350 USD?over here in europe these are considerably less....but....so...if you like it - why not keep it.

on a side note, get your old marshall to a good tech and have him change caps and replace tubes and stuff - i would be surprised if you wouldnt consider selling those modern amps after that...

Yes USD, ARE YOU GUYS SERIOUS ?
What caps and tubes should I go for ? I am not big on guitar electronic parts, my tech can do this in no time, I just need to get the parts, then I can decide 73 vs 2003 Plexi......
Is 2003 pretty modern ?, sure beats any TSL and other crap put out around then, by a long shot I might add.

first i would say these reissue plexi type amps are not bad at all, can be quite cool in fact BUT if you have an original - you have the ORIGINAL...get me?

anyways, have your tech change every elelctrolytic cap and tube in the amplifier and i would be surprised if you wouldnt really love it.

if its a super lead have your tech rewire it to super bass specs as well and see wich you like most....and vice versa...of course..

Ok, the 73, we all know that these are not org tubes in it now.
So what do you suggest ? The amp is quiet as a mouse, one of the quietest I have heard, if I had to explain what I don't like about the 73 vs the Plexi reissue, the 73 is a little mid, mid low harsh, must I say Honky?, also its a 50 watt and the low end can breakup in a good way, however the Plexi has perfect tone and has that perfect bite and headroom from hell and holds a "to die for tight low end" it has Marshall tubes in it that need to be changed, they have some microphonic going on, so I have a plexi that needs tubes but sound sweet, a 73 that is issue free but would like to change the sound a little.
Amps can be a bitch, I am just a player.

O really, I am no tech and know nothing about many tubes, caps etc, I do have a ear for tone, tracking and mixing. Same way with a car ? I can drive but know nothing about working on a car or parts.

I let my tech sweat out the hard stuff, that's what he gets paid for.
Tone and parts are to different things for some.

if you are a guitar player and love amps and such definitely get one of those great amplifier books and see whats going on inside your amps, get some knowledge about basic circuit principles and tubes and such.
its not that hard at all and it is actually very helpful if you really are into sound / tone.
those 50 watters get a bit tighter if you install 6L6 or equivalent tubes.anyways, if you love that reissue plexi so much keep it, put that 73 in the locker and get back to it in a couple years.

Come on guys, stop being so harsh on my allaboutTONE user name.
I am sure most engineers on here cannot fix a console or tape machine if it breaks down, that's why I have a tech, what little I do know about parts my tech teaches me when I visit.
I start a thread about a plexi and my MKll 73 amp heads and a couple of you guys act like I am dumb, I hyde nothing, I know nothing about the insides of a amp, I know what alot of things are called but how they work...nada.. I know nothing about a plexi signal path, for that matter I sure know nothing about my console signal path, my tech slams his head sometimes due to the way the MR3 circuit goes back and forth just on a single channel strip.
Peace.....
Take a vacation, I am starting tom.
Tone will be rarely be on next week, I might catch up on the ole iphone to see whats up.
Shesh.........

Once again my man, the builders make the best Marshall these days. They're actually the best "Marshalls" ever.
