AC3CC2 dead and blowing fuses :(

My AC30 just started blowing the 4A fuse that fits right below the power cable. I ordered new tubes because it has been used for years at high volume and I figured I had blown a power amp tube. I took it apart and all the tubes seem to be fine. (also found out the power tubes are mullards.) Anyone else had this problem? I haven't put the new tubes in yet because I don't want to use them until I really need them. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you're blowing fuses regularly, then that means you've got a problem. I'd replace the rectifier tube first, and then the power tubes. If that doesn't fix it, then I'd take it to a tech. Or you may want to take it to a tech first. It's possible you may have a problem somewhere that is ruining the tubes, so you could ruin your new tubes switching them out while the amp isn't functioning properly.

I had a similar problem with my DR. Turned out to be a bad rectifier tube, so that's the first place I'd look.

Probably a shorted power tube. Tank em all and put em in one at a time starting with the rectifier. With the power tubes go quick because they will be under biased yntil all ate pulling current. A shorted tube should pop the fuse pretty quickly; replace the one that pops

I went ahead and bought all new tubes. Ended up costing about 80 bucks but the rectifier was the culprit. Thanks guys
