Online stores that accept requests for new guitar to be shipped in a case?

Hello, I was trying to order a new guitar and a case from American Musical Supply, with the aim that the guitar be shipped in the case for protection, but they have told me twice that guitars and cases that sell separately must be shipped separately, that they are not allowed to unbox the guitar and place it in the case.

So, do you know of any online stores that would accept such a request?

Regards,

Johnny

I think most of your online music stores have the same policy. You could try musician's friend. They have been pretty good for shipping support in the past. The prices should be on par.

If one of the products turn out to be defective at a later stage, the seller couldn't return it to the manufacturer, so I don't think that any sane seller would be brave/stupid enough to ship stuff out of their original packaging.

You'd need to be prepared to waive all your purchaser rights in terms of warranty to have them do that for you. Or you must have personal relationship with your sales person, and even then, it's a very far possibility in a world of hundreds of millions of people buying stuff online.

I've bought a few instruments 'by mail' (actually, a banjo, a mandolin, a classical and a 000, none of them very expensive) and they've all been super well packed.

(I probably won't be buying too many more unfamiliar instruments by mail, though, because, while the classical is an entirely decent, very well made instrument, its neck shape just doesn't fit my hand the way I'd like. After a couple days of playing I had nasty hand pain developing in a way I'd never had before.)

To be sure, stuff does happen, but the packing I've seen has been well engineered. Maybe it couldn't take a lift fork through the center -- but then neither could a guitar in a case.

Also, something to consider, if you did persuade someone to unpack them both, put the axe in the case, and then put the case in the box made to ship the case, the weight of the case and guitar would likely be well over the weight of the case by itself -- but the shipping box for the case might well not be engineered to protect that kind of mass.

The chorus is a little weak... I think it needs more lasers.

How do you think the online retailers get their guitars from the manufacturers?

if the guitar arrives damaged, it is their problem

problems cost money

companies are not in business to lose money

if there was something about shipping guitars in the boxes they ship them in that cost them money, they would almost certainly not have that policy

in fact they would probably have a 'policy' that you HAD to buy a case with every guitar!

since possible damage in shipping is their problem and this is a new guitar without sentimental attachments for you, I would say to relax and let them do their thing

All of the business oriented viewpoints are completely correct. No argument here. Regardless, I also want mine shipped in cases (like the OP ) and was able to accomplish that twice in the last 4 years.

Msg to the OP, keep poking around getting to know different vendors. You will eventually meet the right folks.

In parting, a guitar is never safer than when it is in its case.
