Axe Fx II version 6 Tone Matching

I know this site is a hate Fractal all the time site, but I'm surprised no one appears to have mentioned their new Tone Matching feature. I have the Axe Fx II, after owning the Ultra for a year, and am simply blown away by this new feature and the sound in general on firmware 6.

Just thought I'd give a shout out for it.

People have moved on to the Kemper now. AxeFX is so last decade.

Plenty of pro guys are still on the Axe II. Both guys in Trivium swear by it. Digital works for metal, but it's all personal preference. I will admit that the "sound" of the digital stuff is getting really good but you can't replace the "feel and response" of playing with a real amp

Have you tried a Kemper and done a profiling session (where you get to compare the real amp against it's profile for both sound and feel)?

Hi Henry,

I'm producing an album at the moment and have processed all of the guitars (tracked dry) through the Axe Fx 2 using a tone match of one of my amps (a Custom Audio PT50) and some of the FAS Modern stock amp model.

It sounds great.
I can't post stuff yet but once it is mixed I'll see if I can post a snippet.

I think version 6 greatly improves the sounds of the amps and the tone matching enters the Kemper profiling territory. With the effects, routing capabilities and amp tweak ability the Axe Fx II is probably ahead of the curve. Both sound great. No argument there. But Axe haters don't really ave a leg to stand on based on the box itself.

I've posted a couple of tone matches now.

First up is my own amp- a Custom Audio PT50 head.
I took an IR of my cabinet and then matched the amp.
Have a listen to the audio file.
First up is the original recording, then the Axe FX model

The second one was a match of the song "Smart" by Helmet.
Not as close but still pretty good.
Can't take an IR of the cab for obvious reasons but just did a straight tonematch.
Same deal here- the original then the Axe FX model.
