Recommend me a really good 2x12 speaker cab

For recording purposes I'm looking for a 2 x 12 to alternately hook up to my Marshall 1987X, Fender Twin & Champ and Vox AC30, so it needs to be something versatile.

My budget's 1.000 euros tops (~about the same amount in US dollars).

All help's appreciated!

I love my Matamp Retro, sounds huge and warm now that I loaded it with a Celestion G12K100 and a Eminence Texas Heat. Custom tolex, grill cloth etc. options, handmade in the UK, and it won't break your bank either.

They only have a limited amount of speaker options though (no G12K100 for example).

Welcome to the official MATAMP Amplification Factory Website

Quality is on par with Mesa, VHT, Framus (cabs that I've owned in the past).

Port City, Divided By 13, Bogner OS, Reeves, new or used.

You could just get a local cabinet maker to build you a hardwood cab for that
money and still be able to afford to load it.

$1400 for a 2x12 guitar cab - basically means you have no price limit. So, you need to just go out and try out all the cabs withOUT taking price into consideration. Then buy whichever one sounds best to you. If, upon inspection, you find that you like the sound of the cabinet but you want better construction - have someone build you a better copy.

Seeing as you are in Europe, I'd check out these guys

Tube-Town Online-Store - TTC Gitarren-Boxen

Do a bit of research on speakers and go for something that matches the style of music you make.

I have a couple of their cabs (one with a Celestion Gold and the other with a Scumback M75) and they definitely deliver the goods in a studio situation.

Thanks, Mr. Hendrix. Good to see you're feeling better.

That's exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

Avatar Speakers

Awesome cabinets for any dollar amount. I had one of there vintage 212 cabs loaded with their hellatone 60s..... Just ****ing great!! And they will do pretty much what ever you want cosmetically or for speaker configuration!! and for your price you could get a few different cabs

I have a pair of Avatar's. They're good, solid cabinets. I was able to get them used cheap, but I don't know if that's an option for the OP. And with 1000E to spend, there's no reason not to try everything on the market. I'd like to try out those Port City Wave cabinets.

I'm in Europe (Belgium), so neither an Avatar or a Port City cab would be an evident option.
