Anyone try DR's Acoustic Guitar Strings ( having a problem )

If changing strings doesn't fix it, then you may have a problem with the nut. Make sure you have enough winds around the peg so that there is a good angle of incidence where the string contacts the nut.

I only have experience with DR electric strings, but it was a VERY bad experience. I strung a set of DR's on my electric and my guitar proceeded to have absolutely horrible unusable intonation on one string. I didn't notice that this began when I restrung my guitar and tried to adjust my intonation but it was ouside the bounds of the adjusments that I could make. I took my guitar to a guitar tech who looked a little bit baffled for a few minutes until he finally asked if I'd tried changing strings. As soon as the DR was replaced my guitar was back to normal again. I will never ever buy them again.

DR are hand-wound and there could be bad individual strings that get through.

However you put them on by hand and you could have screwed up in any number of ways.

Still you probably will never try them again and will cite this bad event as damning all DR strings to eternity.

Of course if you held humans to that standard, and acted on it, you'd be among the most evil people in history.

And it was human hands that made that string.

I have never had luck this bad with any DR string.

I'm using DR Pre Alloy Acoustic Strings on all my recordings.
They sound to me always nice (used many sets on a Collings, Martin and Lakewood Guitar)


They last also quite long....

The only problem I had was on 1 delivery of strings there was a problem with the high E string on 4 different sets. The ball end slipped off.

I got free replacement for these.

Big fan of Rare Phosphor bronze here. Here's the deal with DR. Thee are handwound roundcore strings. Because the core wire is round and not hexagonal the wrap does not grip as tightly. When you put them on you must either wind the string prior to cutting the excess length OR you can crimp the string 90 degrees and then trim it prior to winding. If you don't do this the wrap wire may loosen causing buzzing and other issues. I'd say this process holds the same fir any round core string like Dean Markley or Pyramid. DR is very good about taking you at your word and sending replacement sets. The Rare phosphor bronze are fantastic BTW. Balanced right out of the gate. No break in period and last a long time.
