But Rule number one should be.... (With regard to Hard Drives) Always label which adaptor goes with which hard drive!!! I've not (touch wood) yet oversupplied an HD with too much juice... simply by putting a strip of white insulation tape and then giving it a letter; on the HD, the power lead end and one more on the block end.. Always avoids any confusion!!! |

| Match polarity, too
In addition to the same voltage and enough amperes of current, you also have to match polarity. If the piece of gear or its manual says "center negative", then the wall wart needs to say the same. Ditto for "center positive".
