JBL Eon 315 Active PA Speaker

Eon 315 active speaker is bad, poor quality and low standard.

I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and 2 years ago (2010) i've bought five Eon 315 in USA. I would have bought it here, but it costed 60% more and it was hard to find in authorized dealer by that time.

The speakers sounded good by the time, better than some cheaper national models i used to work but the regular use of a studio showed how low the quality these speakers are.

In two years only i had to replace 4 drivers out of 5 speakers. I've already bought the fifth one because it will be a matter of time to it fries up.

Since the warranty in Brazil would only be available if i had bought the speakers here, i had to replace them by my own, no world wide warranty.

The speakers are mainly used in voice, acoustic guitar and keyboards, a regular rehearsal PA system. Mostly in 220v (its bivolt). No extreme DJ stuff or long times with constant audio in it, just the expected use for a PA speaker such as that.

And the combo plug is hell, 2 of the 5 only works with XLR cables, the others are mostly faulty using TS or TRS.

I won't buy others again, I do not recommend.

This is garbage with JBL logo in it. The old Eon G1 and G2 were way better.

Pros:

1. Good Design
2. It's Bivolt (although sometimes it doesn't work in 220v)
3. Light weight

Cons:

1. Poor Durability - 4 drivers needed to be replaced in 2 years.
2. Poor Parts - combo plugs are faulty, works mainly in XLR, not TRS or TS.
3. International Shipping but no International Warranty.
4. Power cable has no way lock, in time the plug becomes loose.

Veredict

Not recommended. The cons are way more important than the pros. A very bad investiment.
