Gearslutz Reviews

Win 1 of 4 Softube TubeTech Classic Channel plug-ins in our May/June giveaway!

All you have to do is write a review of any pro audio gear (hardware or software) between now and the end of June. Gearslutz' very own Jules will choose the best four reviews after the closing date and those four lucky writers will each receive a TubeTech Classic Channel license from our friends at Softube. Already have this awesome plugin? No problem - Softube will let you swap it for other plug-ins of your choice (up to a $489 value).

Read more about this incredible plugin here.

The boring stuff: the contest closes June 30, 2013. You can do as many reviews as you like but remember they are being judged on quality, and you can only win once! An iLok is required to use the plug-in. Winners will be notified via Gearslutz PM or email. The judge's decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome.

Good luck!

Rode NT5's

A pair of SDC's you say ?
I needed a set of SDC's at an affordable price, but, the choices were daunting. I've made a bad choice before and did not want to pay the price again.
Where to go for experienced, knowledgeable opinions ?
The industry rags uniformly praise every piece of gear that comes across their plate, so, their opinions mattered less and less. Sales people ?....well, you know.

The Rode NT5's were recommended by an industry heavyweight engineer on another forum (which shall remain nameless), and, considering his credit list, that was enough for me. Sold.

Since purchasing the NT5's, I've had the opportunity to record congas, bongos, tablas, duff, frame drum, acoustic gtr's, etc....I was so thrilled with the NT5's that during the first couple of sessions I had to check if what I was hearing was, in fact, really true. Are these mic's really that good ?

So, I put up a TLM103, then a KM185.....

Yowza, these NT5's really are that good. There is really nothing between the heavyweights I tried and the Rode NT5's.

If you need a pair of excellent SDC's at a great price, buy 'em. I'm not the only one who recommended them highly.
