Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive

The Voodoo Lab Sparkle is an excellent Tube Screamer type overdrive pedal that is made inifnitely more versatile by virtual of the clean channel, which can be blended in to taste along with the gain channel, creating quite a tonal spectrum.

So again, the distortion channel is called "Gain." The "Tone" knob affects only the tone of the Gain channel. Clean is a separate channel of, well, pure gain, no grit, no EQ. Just boost. Volume, of course, is a master volume. On/Off switch. LED. In and out.

The logic of the "Clean" channel is that it restores "attack and feel" lost by the compression of the gain. I buy this. I also find that the infamous "mid hump" of the TS sound can be largely counteracted by blending in Clean.

I also often like to use a clean boost to send the amp into a tizzy, and that is easy to accomplish with this pedal.

I have no qualms. There are many kinds of dirt out there. This one is not creamy or insane. I am no particular fan of the Tube Screamer, but this pedal is something different, and I was impressed enough to buy it after a short in-store audition. It's been a staple for me.
