If you have used this sequencer with its 8 tracks and learned it its hard not to be addicted.

Sure it is an outboard midi sequencer.
But if Im a monkey .....I can use it.
And that is the beauty of this guy, intuitive direct simple.
Onceyou learn it.

in parts mode you are looping sections adding sounds building up a track.
Then in song mode you link the parts into a song.

I would love a software emulation of this thing.
Well real purists might tell you the software might quantize differently.

Maybe , All I know id that the quantize on the MMT8 does sound good.
is there really a difference between the swing of an Akai MPC and software, don't know , I could see very rational arguments saying no, but I trust human perception of subtleties (read malcolm gladwell Blink, cool book)

at any rate I think if you have out board synths that are multi timbaral its a great workflow enhancer ...if it is.
If you like working this way my recommendation will be old news and if you have not used an outboard sequencer then you may not initially like this but, given a chance this way of working can seem wonderful.
Plus the buttons feel cool.
There is a built in metronome that I would sometimes use and it was so loud
I put tape over it..

now I no longer have this as my setup is an anlalog keyboard that is not multi timbaral, but I probably should, just looking at it this thing good memories.

i had one, it was fun....

loved those rubber mute buttons, loved the real time quantize, like a HW Midi tracker.
i had the black version... there was a grey version.

the only thing i didnt liked was the the sequencer missed something the Alesis HR-16:B had... when i jump from sequence to sequence....

the leds were great, the size, the price, the weight,

has an AC to AC adapter, 120vac to 6 or 9vac. 500mA. can't remember exactly, was similar to Alesis Ai-2 Ac to Ac adapter.
instructions were printed on the cover the HR-16:B lid cover, but cant remember if the MMT-8 had one... probably.
it was very intuitive...

i loved to have one + drum machines sync'ed with MTC.
