It has twenty pads x/y controller scene saving along with software editor.

Working with the software to save the scene for a particular soft/synth or drum program is key.
By saving different set-ups you can quickly have the pads triggering the drums you want in the places you choose.

Now the response is the key here and thats why you want a controller and it does deliver ther.

I find that the pads are more sensitive then say an m-audio product.
They are not as firm feeling as an akai.
I like the the best of any I've used they are not triggering at the softest touch but you can get fairly good dynamics from them.

there are two assignable knobs which I really use its nice to have that type of control for parameters that use it.
The x/y is a very cool addition and for drum effects can be great for rolls.
I have not played with it a lot but you could assign it to any parameters you wanted which is very cool.

Eight different dynamic curves are available for each pad, or you can set each pad to its own fixed level.

I have not dug into this yet but I will. Stock the curve has been fine but I suppose its possible to benefit from messing with the curves.

I have no problem connecting to any host or software.
I kindof wish I had a stand for it as that might make it a little easier as it is I get on the floor and play because the lap is too tenuous.

I got this guy a bout a year ago and can only say that I've had an absolute blast with it. The x/y controller has been lots of fun and plugging it into my keyboards arpeggiator just adds to it. The pads re responsive, and you can alter the pressure curve to your style. I feel other might be a bit tough to get up to the red zone but that's another great part of this unit...

You can set individual pads to perform how you want. From the midi pitch to the x/y controller interaction, to a consistent velocity each on a per pad basis. You can switch between different 16 different "scenes" or layout settings for the 16 pads, even assign which pads go out midiA or midiB

Using all these features is really easy too, a button here a button there and you're off and rolling.

Can be USB powered or wall powered and transmit midi through USB and/or midi out. I run it USB powered and with midi out from my keyboard going into the padkontrol and I get midi fromy keyboard easy enough as well as my pack troll sending midi through the arp on my keyboard. OT sure how that's possible but I'm not complaining ^0^

And it's cheap. I paid 120 for it. The only thing I was a little bummed at was that I don't have a screw on r bottom to screw it onto a mic stand like the Maudio version. And I do wish there were buttons sliders but..you can't everything!

Definitely recommend. Slid build. Solid functionality. Slid price
